Testimonials

“I met Michael Hamilton when we were both employed at St. Helena Recovery Center. When I needed help on a personal level for my codependency issues with my addict son, everyone I spoke with always pointed me in the direction of Michael. My experience with Michael has been priceless. I could call it treatment, but it feels more personal than that. I know that I can count on Michael’s expertise and support to keep me on the right path. ”

– Kelly R.

“Michael has not only been there for me as a counselor but has been a great coach, friend, and brother. Most significant, Michael has taught me the importance of a spiritual belief and having a higher power. He has helped get me back to the right mindset and living a quality life again. ”

– Johnny L.

I had the pleasure of working with Michael to help address my alcohol-related behaviors and he made a profound impact on my life. His insight and intellect helped me to not only have a positive outlook on my future, but also to understand the work needed to lead a healthy, sober life. I would highly recommend Michael's services to anyone looking to make a change for the better.

“Before I met Michael, and had him as my life coach, my life was turned upside down. I remember being a teen and watching a show that was called “Starting Over” and it had two Life Coaches that helped people through traumas and life struggles. I had been through so many at such a young age that, as a teen watching this show, I wanted a Life Coach who could help me. I have been through “regular therapy” since I was about 8 years old. I am now 33. While regular therapy has helped, it has not helped as much as Michael has as my Life Coach.

Michael has helped me learn that I matter. That I am someone. That I am worthy. That I don’t deserve abuse from anyone. Whether it be from a romantic partner or a family member. He has given me exercises that have made me truly think about everything in a more positive manner than any “regular” therapist has ever done. I have never felt more heard. With Michael, I know that not only will he do his best to truly help me, he also does his best to truly listen to what I have to say with absolutely no judgement. With everything I’ve been dealing with over the last 8 months, if I didn’t have his help, I don’t know that I would still be here to tell my story. Thank you to anyone who has listened. And a tremendous Thank You to Michael for all the help I’ve received in getting my true self back again. ”

I have had the opportunity to be in group therapy with Michael for 6 months.  The experience has qualified me to attest to the fact that he makes an impactful change in people’s lives.

He ascribes his methodology to Carl Rogers, employs techniques such as CBT, but most importantly, embraces the fact that the power of therapy depends upon human connection.

Michael’s prior life experience in the military, as a pastor, and as a substance abuse counselor has made him a uniquely compassionate therapist.  He is adept at dealing with high conflict situations and trauma empathetically.  He manages to be both humorous and serious in relating life experience and psychological education.

I have seen Michael introduce mindfulness, spirituality, and hope into the lives of those who struggle with Substance Use Disorder.  I believe that Michael offers the possibility for positive growth in the life of anyone he works with.  I am personally grateful for the time I’ve shared with him.
